Ukraine to attract EUR 100M from EIB to support recovery efforts in communities
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“In the near future, Ukraine will be able to attract EUR 100 million in support of communities, primarily those affected by Russian armed aggression. The corresponding financial agreement between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank (EIB) was signed during the international Ukraine Recovery Conference and is under ratification,” the report states.
The EIB’s support will be focused on restoration efforts in municipal infrastructure objects, namely schools (including the measures related to the reform of school nutrition system) and heath facilities.
Financing will also be granted for the projects providing accommodation to internally displaced persons and restoring infrastructure objects in the field of heating, water supply and wastewater services.
Since 2014, a total of EUR 540 million worth of loan funds have been attracted in support of Ukraine’s reconstruction potential under two financial agreements between Ukraine and the EIB (Ukraine Recovery Programme and Ukraine Early Recovery Programme). These funds are being used to implement more than 400 essential social projects.
A reminder that, during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, Ukraine signed about EUR 260 million worth of agreements with partners to restore the housing stock destroyed by Russian attacks.
