Czechia ready to help Ukraine restore damaged energy facilities - Economy Ministry

"The Czech Republic confirmed its readiness to support the efforts of the Ukrainian government to restore energy facilities damaged or destroyed by Russian strikes. In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of providing Ukraine with spare parts for the rapid restoration of energy facilities. The parties are interested in jointly developing renewables in Ukraine," the statement reads.
In addition, the delegations agreed on a permanent working group to restore critical infrastructure devastated by Russian attacks. The Czech Republic also noted the possibility of expanding the use of the NET4GAS transport system for the supply of natural gas to Ukraine.
In the field of trade, the Commission agreed to develop a list of priority projects for Czech and Ukrainian companies and a database of Czech businesses interested in participating in the post-war recovery. Joint projects in the defense industry and localization of Czech production in Ukraine were also discussed.
The Czech side announced the introduction of the post of attaché for agrarian affairs at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kyiv. The parties also agreed to deepen cooperation in this area to increase mutual trade and discussed the issue of veterinary control.
Ukraine noted the importance of developing new passenger railway routes between Ukraine and the Czech Republic in cooperation between the two national carriers (České Dráhy and Ukrzaliznytsia).
In addition, Ukraine and Czechia discussed the issue of socialization and integration of Ukrainian children who were forced to flee their homeland into the education systems of EU member states; distance education for Ukrainian students in Ukrainian schools with the exception of compulsory education in primary schools in Czechia; the possibility of crediting acquired knowledge, skills, grades and mutual recognition in the education systems of EU countries and Ukraine; involvement of temporarily displaced Ukrainian teachers in the educational process. There are also plans to provide annual scholarships for studies, summer language courses, exchange of students, postgraduates, and teachers between educational facilities of Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
In addition to the meeting of the mixed Commission, the Ukrainian-Czech business forum was also held, which united more than 50 Czech and 20 Ukrainian businesses in such sectors as energy, engineering, agri-food, and others.
As reported, the Czech Republic is handing Ukraine dozens of cogeneration plants.
