Since the beginning of June, the Russian army has used more than 2,400 guided aerial bombs (CAB) against Ukraine, including about 700 against Kharkiv region.

This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an address, Ukrinform reports citing the President's website.

"Now in Kharkiv, the debris is still being cleared at the site of the Russian bombing. Four guided bombs hit the city - this is absolutely calculated terror. One of the bombs destroyed a residential building in the central part of the city, near the bus station," he said.

According to Zelensky, as of now, more than 40 people have been wounded and injured in the city. "Everyone is being provided with the necessary assistance. Three people in Kharkiv were killed in today's attacks. My condolences to their families and friends," he added.

The Head of State noted that the rescue operation was complicated because of the collapse of the building's structures. But the rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, local services, everyone involved are doing everything to help people as much as possible.

"We are also working as hard as we can to enable Ukraine to fully respond to this Russian terror. Since the beginning of this June alone, Russians have already used more than 2,400 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine, of which about 700 were launched against Kharkiv region, against our positions, against our cities and communities in Kharkiv region," the President stressed.

Zelensky also noted that such Russian strikes are carried out in Donetsk and other frontline and border regions on a daily basis.

According to him, Ukraine needs the necessary forces and means to destroy the carriers of these bombs, including Russian combat aircraft where they are.

"We need this step. I am grateful to all partners, I am grateful to America for a strong decision that helped us stabilise the situation in the Kharkiv region - we were able to destroy Russian missile launchers near the border and the accumulation of Russian occupiers," Zelensky said.

The Head of State believes that such decisions should be continued. "The significant reduction of Russian missile terror against Kharkiv and the region proves that it is absolutely possible to protect our cities and our communities from Russian bombs. That is why modern air defence systems for Ukraine - Patriots - and accelerating the training of our pilots for F-16s, and, most importantly, the sufficient range of our weapons are what is really needed. It is necessary to protect lives - and only for this purpose," he added.

The President thanked everyone in the world who supports Ukraine in this. "Russian terror must lose, and this is in the interest of everyone who wants to live in a world without war, which terrorists always spread - always when they do not lose," the head of state stressed.

As reported by Ukrinform, 43 people, including two children, were injured in Kharkiv as a result of Russian shelling of residential buildings on Saturday afternoon, 22 June.
