Ukraine Army's tactic to keep exhausting Russian forces - Podoliak
The tactic of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Siverodonetsk area at this stage is to exhaust the Russian army as much as possible, inflicting maximum losses on enemy manpower and weaponry.
This was stated by the adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, who spoke in an interview with BBC Radio, Ukrinform reports.
Ukraine hopes to accumulate enough weapons supplied by partners to be able to launch an effective counterattack, the official stressed.
Podoliak noted that Russia seeks to wage war in such a way as to make the evacuation of civilians impossible, destroying urban infrastructure with heavy artillery.
Intense fighting is currently underway in the east of the country, which is taking more and more lives of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.
And the reason for this is the absolute lack of parity in terms of artillery, according to the advisor, who added that Russian troops have deployed almost all of their non-nuclear weapons on the front line, including heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers, and warplanes, which led to a higher number of casualties among Ukrainian forces.
Therefore, he noted, Ukraine wants to achieve certain parity with the Russian army in terms of firepower and is therefore constantly raising the issue with its Western partners.
This will significantly reduce casualties compared to what Ukraine is seeing at the moment, Podoliak added.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, referring to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops keep engaging in exhausting high-intensity hostilities on a wide front as of June 9.
As of today, Russian military death toll in the ongoing war has reached 31,700, including 200 in the past day alone.
