Russian forces try to penetrate Ukraine’s defenses toward Sloviansk
Ukrainian soldiers in the area of Dolyna repelled a Russian assault in the Sloviansk direction – an enemy attempt the General Staff referred to as “senseless.”
That’s according to a morning war update released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces as of 6:00 local time on Sunday, August 14, Ukrinform reports.
It is noted that the situation in the Volyn, Polissia, and Siversky directions has undergone no significant changes. In the latter, the rotation of units of Russia’s Western Military District continues. Enemy artillery has been shelling border settlements from the territory of the Russian Federation.
In the Kharkiv direction, the occupiers are firing barrel and jet artillery along the contact line, maintaining highly intense aerial reconnaissance with the use of UAVs.
The enemy made an attempt at reconnaissance by force in the area of Pytomnyk, with no success. Their units were forced to retreat, having suffered losses. The Russians also carried out airstrikes near Peremoha, Rtyshchyvka, and Pytomnyk. They are also taking measures to ensure logistical support of their forward units and refill casualties.
In the Sloviansk direction, the enemy inflicted fire damage, using tanks and jet artillery, near Brazhkivka, Bohorodychne, and Dolyna. They also tried to penetrate Ukraine’s defenses in the Dolyna area where the Ukrainian forces successfully repulsed the “senseless” attempt.
In the Donetsk direction, the enemy fired at Ukrainian units, employing tanks, barrel and jet artillery. Enemy UAVs were deployed to reconnoiter Ukraine’s logistics support routes and critical infrastructure facilities.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian occupiers launched airstrikes near Spirne and made an attempt at reconnaissance by force in the Serebrianka area. After being confronted with Ukrainian fire, the group retreated. The enemy tried to improve their tactical position in the vicinity of Spirne through assault action – with no success. Fighting continues in the Ivano-Daryivka area.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy fired artillery and tanks at the civilian infrastructure and Ukrainian army’s positions. Airstrikes were reported in the Soledar and Vesela Dolyna areas. Enemy UAVs ran aerial reconnaissance missions. Russia’s reconnaissance by force near Soledar yielded no results as the scout group was forced to retreat. The enemy carried out offensive actions in the Zaitseve area, with no success, being forced to pull back. Firefights continue.
In the Avdiyivka region, in addition to shelling a number of settlements with artillery, the occupiers launched airstrikes near Maryinka. Enemy UAVs made aerial reconnaissance flights. The Russians also launch assaults in the direction of Krasnohorivka and Piskiy, without success. Fighting continues in the area of Pervomaiske.
In the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhia directions, the invaders continuously shell the areas along the contact line using barrel and jet artillery, as well as tanks. The enemy employed aircraft near Prechystivka and Vuhledar. Aerial reconnaissance missions were flown by enemy UAVs. An attempt at reconnaissance by force was made in the area of Prechystivka, where the enemy was ultimately forced to retreat after being hit by Ukrainian fire. The Russians are conducting an offensive in the area of Pavlivka, where the fighting continues while the enemy is massively using e-warfare systems.
In the South Buh direction, the enemy's main efforts are focused on holding occupied ground. The Russians are continuing anti-aircraft reconnaissance. They also shelled the line of contact, using barrel and jet artillery, as well as tanks.
In the water areas of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, the enemy's naval group continues to perform the task of supporting their ground troops and blocking the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
The threat of missile strikes against critical infrastructure facilities across the territory of Ukraine remains in place.
