Over 10,000 people evacuated from Donetsk region in past week

As part of mandatory evacuation, more than 10,000 people have left Donetsk region over the past week.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, said this at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Mandatory evacuation of Donetsk region’ residents is ongoing. In the past week alone, 10,060 people left the region. A total of 14,623 people, including 2,410 children, have been evacuated since its start," Tymoshenko said.

According to him, most people were evacuated to Dnipropetrovsk region - more than 7,000, to Lviv region - more than 3,000, Kirovohrad region – 2,500.

"There is still a lot of work to be done, and we understand that very well. We are making every effort to preserve the lives of our people and rebuild what the barbarians have been destroying for the 198th day in a row," the deputy head of the President’s Office emphasized.

As reported, the mandatory evacuation of the population from Donetsk region began on August 2.
