Mobile air defence groups operate in different areas - Nayev

Mobile manoeuvrable air defence firing groups are on combat duty not only near Kyiv but also perform tasks in other areas.

Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"The task of manoeuvrable fire groups is not only to ensure air defence of Kyiv. Undoubtedly, they are also used in other areas in the operational zone of subordinate troop groups. Their purpose is to increase the effectiveness of air cover in destroying enemy air attack assets - aircraft, cruise missiles, UAVs - in threatened areas. The manoeuvrable fire groups are also used to provide air cover for critical infrastructure facilities and during troop movements. With the help of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, partner countries and volunteers, we have provided manoeuvrable firing groups with off-road vehicles. This allows us to respond quickly to threats," said Nayev.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, in January, Ukraine created 19 mobile air defence groups based on off-road vehicles to protect critical infrastructure.

On 10 May, Nayev handed over another batch of off-road vehicles to create mobile air defence fire groups.
