Lukashenko’s statements on Wagner Group eyeing Poland “psyop” - Ukraine’s intelligence

The statements voiced by the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, about the alleged desire by the Wagner Group Belarus is housing to “take a walk” into Poland are part of a psyop.

That’s according to Andrii Yusov, a spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, who spoke at the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"This is a psyop to draw focus to Wagner and to Belarus, to irritate, annoy, and disperse the forces and equipment of our partners in the EU and the North Atlantic Alliance to the situation on the Belarusian borders. But first of all, it is a psyop," he said.

Yusov rejects the possibility of a Wagner assault toward Poland.

"When we talk about Poland, today it is not only the Armed Forces of Poland, we are talking about NATO. So such incidents would be quickly, efficiently, and brutally resolved," Yusov emphasized.

As reported earlier, Lukashenko said during a meeting with Putin in St. Petersburg that he was “stressed out” somewhat by the Wagner Group fighters." He noted that the militants allegedly sought to "go on an excursion to Warsaw and Rzeszów."

Meanwhile, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a U.S.-based think tank, noted that there is currently no indication that Wagner has in Belarus the heavy weapons required for any serious offensive against Ukraine or Poland.

The United States called Lukashenko's statements that Russian militants with Wagner Group, now stationed in Belarus, threaten to invade Poland as irresponsible.

The Department of State said the United States would protect every inch of NATO territory.
