Russians shell Ochakiv, damaging households, gas main
On the morning of Wednesday, August 23, Russian artillery shelled Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region, as well as the water area of the Ochakiv community.
That’s according to Vitaliy Kim, the Head of the Regional Military Administration, who broke the news on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, "yesterday, August 22, at 15:55 and 19:56, enemy artillery shelling was recorded along the coastline of the Kutsurub community. There were no casualties."
Also yesterday, Kim noted, at 16:04., 16:43, 17:55, 18:38, and on the morning of August 23, at 05:05, the enemy launched artillery strikes on the water area of Ochakiv community. There were no casualties.
At 22:10, the Russians fired artillery at Ochakiv. The roof of the church was caught ablaze. The fire was quickly extinguished by units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region. There are no casualties.
On Wednesday morning, at 18:29, Ochakiv again came under artillery fire. Dry grass was burning. The household gas pipeline, roof and ceiling of a two-storey residential building and the roof of a one-storey residential building were also damaged. The details and consequences of the damage are being clarified. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties, Kim stressed.
In Mykolaiv, Pervomaiskyi, Voznesenskyi, and Bashtanskyi districts, the past day was relatively calm, he added.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, in Mykolaiv region, all festive events leading up to Independence Day were canceled or postponed.
