Ukraine repels over 30 Russian assaults in Tavria operational zone
The Armed Forces of Ukraine on Saturday repelled 35 Russian attacks near Avdiivka and Marinka, Donetsk region.
That’s according to a spokesman for the Tavria group of troops, Colonel Oleksandr Shtupun, who spoke on the air of the national telethon.
"The invaders do not give up their attempts to besiege Avdiivka, but our warriors hold their ground and inflict significant losses on enemy forces. The enemy’s offensive efforts near Keramik, Avdiivka, Stepove, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske yielded no success. More than 15 enemy attacks have been repelled. Assault efforts are being recorded near Marinka, Krasnohorivka, and Pobieda. These are more than 20 assaults, and all of them failed," he said.
Shtupun also reported 23 Russian airstrikes in the past day, including with the use of guided air bombs that terrorized the residents of Avdiivka and the surrounding area. The enemy also engaged in 55 combat clashes and launched over 1,000 artillery strikes, which the spokesman says is twice as many as reported the previous day.
At the same time, the spokesman noted that the Ukrainian military repelled Russian assaults in the area of Prychystivka, Zolota Nyva, and Staromaiorske in Donetsk region, as well as north of Pryiutne, Zaporizhzhia region.
"Due to the huge combat losses, we record the inflow of manpower replenishments directly from Russia. As a result, there have been more cases where the enemy is unaware of the local terrain and overall battlefield situation," Shtupun said.
He added that Ukrainian artillery opened fire 1,437 times in the past day, destroying 34 units of Russian military hardware, including six tanks, seven armored fighting vehicles, seven artillery systems, nine UAVs, five military trucks and specialized equipment units.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russia’s military death toll in Ukraine as of October 22 stands at 293,830. On Saturday alone, 980 Russian soldiers were killed in action, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
