Five battles raging in Pokrovsk sector

Five battles are ongoing in the Pokrovsk sector. Ukrainian defenders have repelled one attack by Russian invaders.

Nazar Voloshyn, the spokesman for the Khortytsia operational-strategic grouping of troops, said this on Ukrainian television, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The Pokrovsk sector is one of the hottest. Most of the combat clashes take place there. There were 220 attacks over the past week. These are the areas of Kalynove, Yevhenivka, Sokil and Yasnobrodivka.

Five battles are raging in this sector now. Our defenders have repelled one attack," he said.

According to Voloshyn, enemy activity is also observed in the area of Ocheretyne. The enemy lost more than 450 troops killed or wounded in action there over the past day.

He also emphasized that the enemy would likely try to break through the Ukrainian defenses and develop an offensive in the direction of Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad and Selydove.

"This means that the enemy will be trying to get to the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka highway," Voloshyn added.

In the past day, 110 combat engagements took place on the front lines.
