Ukraine's accession to NATO should be conditioned only by will of Ukrainians - Duda

Ukraine's membership in NATO should be determined only by the will of the Ukrainian people.

This was stated by President of Poland Andrzej Duda during a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in Warsaw, Ukrinform reports citing the Office of the President of Poland.

"The issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO should be conditioned by only one thing - the will of Ukrainian society. If it is, the Alliance cannot hesitate," Duda emphasized.

He noted that from the very beginning, Poland has supported Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations and will continue to do so.

"And we will do so in Washington. If there is a voice at the NATO summit that will be loud for Ukraine, it will undoubtedly be the voice of Poland," Duda emphasized.

He added that there is no disagreement on the Polish political scene in this regard.

As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed a security agreement in Warsaw on July 8.

The NATO summit will be held in Washington on July 9-11.
