Zelensky on war end scenario: people are important but this doesn’t mean Ukraine can cede 30% of its land

Comparing the loss of people and territory is impossible. People are important. But this does not mean Ukraine is ready to cede 30% of its territory.

This was emphasized by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with the BBC during his visit to the UK, reports Ukrinform.

"Some ask: what is more important to you - territory or people? How can you compare things like that? It's all about people. People are important. But this doesn’t mean you can give them 30% of our land," Zelensky said.

Besides, in his opinion, no one can be sure that the Russians will not go farther and that freezing the conflict guarantees peace.

"It had already been frozen before. Who said that Putin doesn't just want to destroy us? He does. He simply wants the return of the Soviet Union under his leadership until the end of his days," added the president.

Zelensky emphasized that Putin cannot be trusted so the options for the likely end of the was must be thoroughly discussed and assessed.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine believes that, provided unity and following the format of the Peace Summit, it may be possible to try to end the hot stage of the Russo-Ukrainian war by the end of this year.
