Explosions reported at Belbek, Saky airfields in Crimea - social media

Loud explosions were reportedly heard in the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol, Crimea.

This is according to the Telegram channel Crimean Wind, Ukrinform reports.

"Loud explosions can be heard in Sevastopol. Subscribers cannot determine whether they are the result of air defense activity or direct strikes," the post said.

According to the channel, Russian air defense systems were active around the Belbek airfield and in the Inkerman district, with locals noting the distinct sound of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over the northern part of Sevastopol.

Simultaneously, air defense activity was observed at the Saky airfield in Novofedorivka, where four explosions were reported.

Later, the Russian Telegram channel Mash reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had launched an attack on the Belbek airfield. Monitoring sources indicated that around 40 UAVs, Neptune low-altitude anti-ship missiles, and unidentified cruise missiles were flying toward the northwest of the peninsula. Some social media users speculated that Storm Shadow missiles might have been involved.

Ukrinform previously reported that in early October, two powerful explosions rocked temporarily occupied Crimea, with the blasts being heard from Sevastopol to Miskhor, as well as in the Bakhchysarai district and Yalta.
