Black Sea update: Russia deploys two Kalibr carriers
Russia’s Navy keeps two warships on combat duty in the Black Sea, both carriers of Kalibr cruise missiles.
That’s according to an update by the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.
“As of 6:00, there are two enemy ships carrying Kalibr cruise missiles, with a total salvo of up to eight missiles, in the Black Sea; there are no enemy ships in the Sea of Azov,” the report says.
The Ukrainian General Staff added that four Russian warships are deployed in the Mediterranean Sea, of which three are Kalibr carriers with a total salvo of up to 26 missiles.
Over the past 24 hours, a number of vessels passed through the Kerch Strait in Russia’s interest: two to the Black Sea, and 12 – to the Sea of Azov, of which five had come from the Bosphorus Strait.
Meanwhile, the Russian Federation continues to violate the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea 1974 (SOLAS), as their vessels switch off automatic identification systems, the report concludes.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Kremlin said an agreement on safe navigation in the Black Sea will only take effect once certain sanctions on Russia are lifted.
