The Sadykovs moved to Kyiv from Kazakhstan in 2014. Aidos Sadykov was subjected to criminal prosecution in his homeland, as he claims, for political reasons.

In Ukraine, they were granted refugee status and ran the YouTube channel Basse, where they criticised the Kazakh authorities and oligarchs and supported the protests in Kazakhstan in 2022. In the autumn of 2023, Aidos and Nataliia Sadykov were put on the wanted list by the Kazakh authorities on charges of inciting hatred.
