Ukraine’s sowing campaign: work completed on nearly 600K ha in Volyn region

Farmers across Ukraine’s Volyn region completed this year’s sowing campaign for spring grain and technical crops across 595,000 hectares.

This was reported on Facebook by the chief of the regional military administration, Yuriy Pogulyajko, Ukrinform saw.

"The sowing campaign for spring grain and industrial crops has completed in Volyn region. This year, our farmers sowed 595,000 hectares," the official wrote.

According to the regional chief, the area designed for ​​spring crops in the region was increased by 4,700 hectares. As for cereals and legumes, farmers have sown corn for grain on 55,000 hectares, oats (36,000 ha), barley (25,000 ha), wheat and triticale (12,000 ha), buckwheat (3,000 ha), peas (2,000 ha), and millet (1,000 ha).

Farmers in Volyn region planted almost 89,000 hectares of potatoes and more than 14,000 hectares of vegetables.

Agricultural enterprises in Volyn increased by 21,000 hectares the sowing area for technical crops: soybeans (68,000 ha), sunflower (32,000 ha), sugar beets (12,000 ha), and spring rapeseed (nearly 4,000 ha).

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers have completed spring sowing at almost 13 million hectares.
