Situation in energy sector has stabilized – PM Shmyhal
The situation in the energy sector in Ukraine has stabilized due to the early completion of repairs at two nuclear power plants and a decrease in air temperature.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports citing his Telegram.
"Thanks to the early completion of repairs at two nuclear power plant units and a drop in air temperature, the situation in the energy sector has stabilized," he said.
Shmyhal underscored that the capacity deficit in the system remains as Russia continues to attack Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
The Prime Minister noted that preparations for the autumn-winter period and the development of alternative sources of generation in the country are ongoing. He noted that state support programs for the construction of distributed generation have already been launched.
According to him, there are new energy loan programs for businesses and individuals to strengthen energy resilience.
"We are seeing a steady demand for concessional loans, both from small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and households," he said.
Shmyhal also recalled the President signed a law abolishing import duties and VAT for power equipment: the law came into force on July 27. From now on, citizens and businesses can import power generators, inverters, batteries, and charging stations on a preferential basis.
As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine expects to go through the upcoming heating season using gas of its own production and plans to increase the volume of fuel in gas storage facilities to more than 13 billion cubic meters by November.
