Lubinets and IAEA Director General discuss security and humanitarian situation at ZNPP
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi discussed the security and humanitarian situation at the ZNPP.
According to Ukrinform, Lubinets reported this in Telegram.

“During the discussion, he emphasized the security and humanitarian situation around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which from the first days of the Russian occupation has become a zone of nuclear terror, human rights violations and international humanitarian law,” Lubinets said.

The Ombudsman expressed his gratitude to Grossi for “his personal involvement in these complex processes, his consistent support for the principles of nuclear safety and his clear position on the inadmissibility of the use of nuclear energy for military purposes.”
The parties agreed to maintain constant communication on the situation at Zaporizhzhia NPP.
As reported, ZNPP was seized by Russian troops on March 4, 2022. In September, the plant completely stopped generating electricity. Russian military personnel and military equipment are on the territory of the nuclear facility. The shelling has repeatedly damaged ZNPP's external power supply lines.
In June 2023, the Russians blew up the Kakhovka HPP. Due to the destruction of the Kakhovka reservoir caused by these actions, ZNPP has enough water for cooling only when operating in a cold shutdown state.
