Norway, through the UNDP, has handed over critically important energy equipment to Ukraine, which will add 200 megawatts of energy to the energy system, providing backup power to approximately 1.5 million consumers.

The certificates for gas-turbine generators for Naftogaz Group, equipment for Ukrgazvydobuvannia, and the delivery of two autotransformers for Ukrenergo were handed over by Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Norway is doing a lot to support Ukraine's energy sector. Today, we are talking about transferring 16 units of gas turbine equipment for Naftogaz, solar panels (for Ukrenergo), and critically important equipment for Ukrgazvydobuvannia. In total, we are talking about 200 megawatts that will be added to Ukraine's energy system this year," said Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko after the certificate handover ceremony.

He added that this will be a decentralized generation, which will provide additional power to around 1.5 million consumers.

"This is for many regions — Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Lviv — the geography is very broad," noted the minister.

According to Halushchenko, this assistance is critically important for Ukraine, as our energy system has been under daily attacks from Russia.

The minister also highlighted the significant role of the UNDP in supporting Ukraine's energy system.

"In fact, they (UNDP) are the implementers of these projects, and today, thanks to such cooperation, we have been able to keep the energy system intact," the official emphasized.
