Rada Speaker: Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania strong in their unity

Kyiv, Warsaw, and Vilnius share their assessment of the threats coming from Russia, and all 38 points of the final memorandum of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the three countries boil down to a threat from a single person (Vladimir Putin - ed.).

That’s according to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, who spoke at a joint briefing in Warsaw with along with Speaker of the Polish Senate Tomasz Grodzki and Chairman of Lithuania’s Seimas, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"It’s only together that we remain strong. If we are together, we see success, if we are together, we can counter the threats that now exist in the world," Stefanchuk said.

According to the Rada Speaker, all 38 points of the final memorandum signed following the meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly are reduced to one person (Vladimir Putin - ed.), who "manipulates in various ways the security in the European region and security of the whole world."

According to Stefanchuk, there was no debate between the three countries’ delegations on the text of the final document. This means that Kyiv, Warsaw, and Vilnius see the situation in the region the same way.

In turn, Grodzki noted that the tone in the final document signed by the Assembly is "quite unambiguous and sharp," but this form is justified by the latest developments in the region.

The Polish politician stressed that Warsaw and Vilnius support Ukraine's integration into the EU and NATO. He noted that this path is "not easy," including given the stance of ultra-right-wing forces in Europe, claiming that Ukraine is a Russian zone of influence and that no one should interfere.

"We do not support this position in any way; we strongly oppose it," Grodzki said.

Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen said that the most important outcome of the Assembly meeting is the realization of the fact that the three countries stand together in unity. She stressed that all parties support Ukraine on its path to the EU and NATO.

She has also expressed conviction that no effort to attack and divide the three actors will see any success.

The Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas noted that the memorandum mentions all the threats that currently exist around the region. According to her, for the first time at this level, the official document calls on the European Court to try Alexander Lukashenko for his crimes.

As reported earlier, the XI session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, and the Seimas and the Senate of the Republic of Poland took place in Warsaw on December 5-6.
