Ukraine knows what U.S., NATO talking about with Russia - Kuleba
There is no reason to claim that at the negotiations the United States and NATO conduct with Russia, issues concerning Ukraine are resolved without taking into account Kyiv’s position.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at a joint press conference with his Canadian counterpart Melanie Joly in Kyiv on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"We, Ukraine, are aware of the content of talks between the United States and Russia. And the contacts between the President of Ukraine and the President of the United States, my contacts with the Secretary of State were aimed at that. We know what’s happening on the NATO-Russia line. Of course, we, as OSCE members, know what is happening there. Therefore, there is no reason to assume that something is being resolved without Ukraine," Kuleba said.
He added that the format where all parties – the EU, NATO, the United States, Ukraine, Russia, Canada, Britain, etc. – would sit at the same table is “science fiction, it won’t happen, diplomacy doesn’t work this way."
"Therefore, it’s fundamental that in the format of wide-ranging contacts at various levels that’s been established, Ukraine knows for sure that no issue related to it can be resolved without taking into account its positions. This is a key result of our diplomatic efforts," the Foreign Minister stressed.
According to Kuleba, Ukraine wants to see "a lot of diplomacy."
In this context, he thanked his Canadian counterpart for her visit to Kyiv and upcoming trips to Paris and Brussels.
"This is a format of active diplomacy, when everyone does what they can, within their national interests. And in this format, Ukraine is in the spotlight," Kuleba stressed.
As reported, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Ukraine should also be part of security talks in Europe,
