EU denounces Russia’s illegal ‘referenda’ in Ukraine – Borrell

The European Union condemns the pseudo-referenda held by Russian invaders within the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine and their falsified outcome.

The relevant statement was made by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on Twitter, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“EU denounces holding of illegal “referenda” and their falsified outcome. This is another violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty + territorial integrity, amidst systematic abuses of human rights. We commend the courage of Ukrainians, who continue to oppose & resist Russian invasion,” Borrell wrote.

A reminder that earlier EU Lead Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Peter Stano confirmed the EU’s intent to bring to justice those responsible for holding sham ‘referenda’ within the occupied areas of Ukraine’s Luhansk region, Donetsk region, Kherson region and Zaporizhzhia region.
