Kuleba invites Kuwait to join efforts to rebuild Ukraine
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba as part of his visit to Kuwait met with the head of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Waleed Al-Bahar, and invited him to participate in the restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said this in a statement on Tuesday, April 18, according to Ukrinform.
The ministry said the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development is a Kuwaiti state financial institution involved in development projects in 105 countries for a total amount of $21.8 billion.
During the meeting, the minister talked about the efforts being made by the Government of Ukraine and international partners to restore Ukrainian infrastructure that was damaged due to Russian aggression.
"Russian aggression caused a lot of destruction. However, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky states, we will definitely restore everything. There are projects that can be financed right now. In the general perspective of post-war reconstruction, Ukraine will probably become the world's largest construction site," Kuleba said.
The minister invited the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to join the restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure.
In this context, Waleed Al-Bahar said that his foundation is ready to participate in the international Ukraine Recovery Conference that will be held in London in late June. He also noted that interaction with Ukraine would be a priority in the fund's activities.
The ministry said that both parties had paid special attention to social projects, particularly the construction of new hospitals, schools and kindergartens in Ukraine, as well as the implementation of psychological support and rehabilitation programs for Ukrainians affected by the war.
The two also agreed to organize a meeting of experts from Ukraine and Kuwait in the near future for a detailed discussion of cooperation prospects.
