EU changes ambassador to Ukraine

Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission Katarina Mathernova has confirmed that she will become the new EU ambassador to Ukraine.

Katarina Mathernova said this on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"Great honour to be appointed to represent the EU in Ukraine as the next EU Ambassador", Mathernova wrote.

The current EU ambassador to Ukraine, Estonian diplomat Matti Maasikas, has held this position since 2019. Katarina Mathernova is expected to take up her new position in September 2023.
