Zelensky meets with emir of Qatar

President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Qatar, where the two discussed preparations for the Global Peace Summit.

Zelensky reported the news via social media, Ukrinform reports.

"In Qatar, I met with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. I appreciate Qatar's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as all key UN resolutions condemning Russian aggression. It is important that Qatar supports the Peace Formula," the president wrote.

Zelensky noted that during the meeting, he spoke about the preparation of the Global Peace Summit, where on of the topics will be the release of Ukrainians captured or deported by Russia. The head of state thanked his counterpart for the assistance in returning to Ukraine the children who had been forcibly taken away by Russia. The parties agreed to continue cooperation in this regard.

"We rely on Qatar's continued solidarity with our country during this historic time," added the president.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 5 arrived on an official visit to Qatar.
