Peace formula is basis but Ukraine is open to considering other ideas - Yermak
President Zelensky's Peace Formula should become the basis for ending the Russian war. However, Ukraine is open to any other ideas and proposals if they respect Ukraine's independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, on the air of Ukrainian television ahead of the Peace Summit in Switzerland, Ukrinform reports.
"We believe that it is absolutely fair that our Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine is the basis, because the war and aggression against Ukraine are ongoing. It is absolutely fair to recognize this. And we always emphasize and speak about it, and our position is very clear: we are open to any proposals and ideas from all countries that respect our independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty," he said.
According to him, it is important for Ukraine that the Peace Summit develop a joint plan that will be supported by most countries.
Yermak also said that alternative plans are "not good." "Because again, there is a war and aggression against Ukraine. I do not understand how anyone can talk about anything without asking us and taking into account our position. I think it is impossible and unpromising," he explained.
The Head of the Presidential Office also commented on the absence of China at the summit and China's possible peace plans.
"As for the participation of countries that are not here today, I think that President Zelensky clearly said at a press conference with President Biden that if our principles coincide, for example, with China, then this dialogue will be launched, and China will join this process. If these principles are different, then it's not up to us," he said.
As reported by Ukrinform, today, June 15, the first Peace Summit will officially start in the Swiss resort of Burgenstock with 100 delegations participating - 92 countries and 8 international organizations.
