Ukraine, Slovenia sign memorandum to protect refugee children

Ukraine and Slovenia have signed a memorandum that will help protect the rights of Ukrainian children.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this in a post on the Telegram messaging app following his meeting with Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar, Ukrinform reports.

"Slovenia will provide all-round support to Ukrainian citizens, particularly children who have been forced to temporarily move to their country. A respective memorandum was signed today between our governments. The implementation of the memorandum will contribute to the protection of the rights of Ukrainian children in Slovenia and the safe return of families with children to Ukraine in the future," Shmyhal said.

During the meeting, Shmyhal thanked Pirc Musar for her support in all areas, including military assistance.

"We appreciate [Slovenia's] decision on the additional allocation of 5 million euros for humanitarian initiatives and projects to rebuild Ukraine during the Recovery Conference in Berlin," Shmyhal added.

The parties also discussed the need to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and continue Ukraine's European integration.
