Zelensky on Farion's murder: All versions are being investigated, including one leading to Russia
In the morning, President Volodymyr Zelensky heard reports from Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and SSU Chief Vasyl Malyuk on the investigation into the murder of public figure and MP of the VII convocation Iryna Farion.
The Head of State announced this in his Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"In the morning, there were new reports from the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk on the investigation into the murder of Iryna Farion. All available surveillance cameras are being checked, witnesses are being interviewed, and the territory of several districts is being examined. All versions are being investigated, including the one leading to Russia," Zelensky said.
According to him, all the necessary forces of the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine are involved in the search for the offender. The Minister of Internal Affairs, Deputy Prosecutors General and the heads of the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine are on the spot in Lviv.
"I am grateful to everyone who is helping the investigation. My condolences to the family and all the relatives of Iryna Farion," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk also expressed his condolences over the death of the public figure.
"The events in Lviv once again show that terror and violence in any form are unacceptable. The perpetrator must be found and brought to justice. My sincere condolences to the family and friends," the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada said.
As Ukrinform reported, in the evening of 19 July in Lviv, an unknown person shot at a public figure, linguist Iryna Farion. The public figure died in hospital as a result of her injuries.
