Trump has no idea how to end war in Ukraine - former adviser

Former US President Donald Trump's national security adviser John Bolton has said that the former US president has no idea how to end the war in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Bolton said this during an interview with CNN.

In particular, Bolton quoted Trump's statement made during a recent conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky that he would bring peace and end the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to the former adviser, Trump has no idea how to end the war in Ukraine.

"It's crazy. He [Trump] has no idea how he is going to negotiate and end this war," Bolton said.

He noted that Trump's proximity to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin would lead to concessions in favour of Russia that would be devastating for Ukraine.

According to Bolton, this is a "very dark moment", adding that it is not only for Ukraine, as the US came to Kyiv's aid "not out of the kindness of our hearts, not out of active charity".

"We are assisting Ukraine because it is in the core of American national security interests to defend against unprovoked aggression on the European continent and to try to get peace and stability there, which brings us benefits in innumerable ways," he said.

As Ukrinform reported, US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump promised to bring peace and end the war after a phone call with Zelensky on Friday.
