London to see Ukrainian ballet school perform in legendary theater, first time ever
Ukrainian Ballet Gala, a unique performance dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day, will for the first time ever take place at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre on September 7.
As the organizers of the event told Ukrinform, Ukrainian Ballet Gala will mark the debut of the Ukrainian National Ballet on the British theatre stage.
Ukrainian soloists Olesya Shaitanova, Christine Shevchenko, Denys Cherevychko, and Natalia de Froberville, who currently perform worldwide with the American Ballet Theatre, Wiener Staatsballett, Lithuanian National Ballet, and Toulouse Ballet du Capitol, will perform on the stage of one of the world’s most significant venues, Sadler’s Wells.
They will join the stars of the Ukrainian National Ballet, the Royal Ballet, and the English National Ballet in a show that includes classical pieces such as The Dying Swan, Don Quixote, Diana and Actaeon, Corsair, Sylphs, and Grand Pas Classique, as well as features a world premiere, System A/I, created by choreographer Ludovic Ondiviela and dramaturg Olga Danyliuk.
"This great theatrical event coincides with the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence and will be a memorable celebration of Ukrainian culture in London," said Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystaiko.
The organizers of the Gala event say its goal is to praise Ukraine’s progress over the past three decades and glorify the outstanding talent in ballet.
According to Olga Danylyuk, the project’s director and producer, Ukraine’s best ballet dancers "together will make a huge contribution, representing Ukrainian art and culture through an unforgettable performance."
Ukrainian ballet premiere will take place on September 7, 2021, at 19:00 local time at the Sadler Wells Theatre on Rosebury Avenue, London EC1R 4TN.
Tickets are available from GBP 20 to GBP 95.
