Pope Francis calls on world not to forget about Ukrainians who are still suffering from war
Pope Francis has called on the world not to forget about Ukrainians who are still suffering from the war.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Vatican News.
Next Friday, Pope Francis will travel to Budapest, Hungary, which serves as a complement to his visit to the country in 2021 for the International Eucharistic Congress. However, Pope Francis noted, “it will also be a journey to the centre of Europe, over which the icy winds of war continue to blow,” with the resulting movement “of so many people puts urgent humanitarian issues on the agenda.”
The Pope also said he is looking forward to his visit with the Hungarian people, and thanked them for their commitment in preparing for his arrival. He asked everyone to accompany his journey with prayer, not forgetting “our Ukrainian brothers and sisters, still afflicted by this war.”
Among other things, he also mentioned that World Earth Day was celebrated the day before.
In view of the gravity of the situation in Sudan, Pope Francis invited everyone to pray “for our Sudanese brothers and sisters”. Pope Francis appealed for an immediate end to violence “and a return to the path of dialogue.”
As Ukrinform reported, Pope Francis is planning to discuss peace for Ukraine during his visit to Hungary on April 28-30.
