Russian aggression already injured 949 children in Ukraine
“As of the morning of April 22, 2023, more than 1,419 children were affected in Ukraine as a result of the Russian Federation’s full-scale armed aggression. According to the official information provided by juvenile prosecutors, 470 children were killed and more than 949 received injuries of various degrees of severity,” the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office wrote on Telegram.
It is noted that these figures are not final, as the work is underway in the areas where active hostilities are ongoing, as well as in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
Most children were affected in Donetsk region - 452, Kharkiv region - 275, Kyiv region - 127, Kherson region - 94, Zaporizhzhia region – 89, Mykolaiv region - 86, Chernihiv region - 68, Luhansk region - 66, and Dnipropetrovsk region – 66.
On April 21, a 9-year-old boy was injured in Russia’s shelling of New York village, Donetsk region.
As Ukrinform reported, as of April 12, 405 children are considered missing in Ukraine, and 19,384 children are considered illegally deported.
