UAH 4.4B in social assistance granted to IDPs in Dnipropetrovsk region since war-start
In January-May 2023, internally displaced persons in Dnipropetrovsk region received social assistance in the amount of UAH 4.4 billion. At the same time, in 2023, almost a thousand displaced people found jobs in the region.
That’s according to a report by the Ministry of Reintegration of Occupied Territories following the meeting between Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Reintegration Iryna Vereshchuk and representatives of local government.
"The key to comprehensive adaptation and integration of IDPs in communities is the cooperation of state authorities and local self-government bodies. It is the local government that is closest to internally displaced persons. In particular, the work of each of us should be directed to ensuring their financial support and employment," said Vereshchuk.
During the meeting, the leadership of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration reported that timely payments of social assistance were ensured for the displaced persons. In particular, in January - May 2023, UAH 4.4 billion was paid. Also during the meeting, it was emphasized that the Regional Coordination Headquarters for ensuring the rights and freedoms of IDPs operates in the region.
Representatives of the Dnipropetrovsk region noted that in 2022, with the help of employment centers, more than 2,200 people found jobs against almost a thousand reported last year.
Also, regional authorities provided protection for 558 orphans and children deprived of parental care who had been evacuated from the frontline areas.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Vereshchuk said that thanks to the government's Shelter program, more than a million IDPs found free temporary housing.
