Ukraine releases postal stamp in honor of star boxer Usyk
Ukrposhta has released a stamp dedicated to Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk and his clash with the UK’s Tyson Fury for the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBO world heavyweight champion title.
This was announced by Ihor Smilyansky, Ukrposhta CEO, Ukrinform learned.
"I am sure that this penultimate official stamp of 2024 will find its fans because it’s dedicated to the legend of Ukrainian sports, its symbol Oleksandr Usyk and his fight with Tyson Fury for the WBC, WBA, WBO and IBO world heavyweight champion title, scheduled for December 21 in Saudi Arabia," Smilyansky noted.
According to the CEO, Usyk’s image on the stamp sends a message that "the world loves the strong", and that Ukrainians are famous for their courage and resilience.
"Strength is not always about muscles, missiles, quantitative or physical superiority. It’s about character, faith and spirit, which our nation is endowed with," noted the Ukrposhta chief.
He emphasized that "Usyk has become a symbol of invincibility for millions, his victories inspire and remind us that true strength lies in the fight for what is yours."
"We thank Oleksandr for the fact that in all his appearances in the ring, the Ukrainian flag flies on the screens of millions of people around the world. "His achievements are our pride and motivation," Smilyansky emphasized.
He added that not everyone will be able to attend the clash in person, but all Ukrainians will be able to buy a stamp, with part of the proceeds going to the Oleksandr Usyk Foundation, and cheer on TV and online.
Smilyansky noted that on December 12, Ukrposhta will launch pre-orders for the stamp, which will be put up on sale on the eve of the fight on December 19. The stamp can be ordered here.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukrposhta has released the stamp entitled "Letter to Saint Nicholas."
