Ukraine’s counteroffensive: Russian assault regiment “ceases to exist”
That’s according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, Ukrinform reports.
It is noted that due to Ukraine’s counteroffensive unfolding in several directions at once, Russian troops are desperately searching for ways to make it out alive from hostility zones and escape possible encirclement.
According to the latest intelligence data, the invaders with the 202nd separate motorized rifle regiment, deployed in Kharkiv region, withdrew from their positions, moving to the nearest forest strip. As the unit’s commanders fled and communications were severed, the soldiers are calling their relatives requesting that they reach out to the upper command and get instructions on their further steps. Some are asking their wives to call the Russian defense ministry hotline and that of the Red Cross, demanding that they be extracted from Ukraine.
"The occupiers tried to repel the offensive in the Kharkiv direction, employing tanks and the Solntsepek heavy flamethrower to shell the Ukrainian positions. However, they sustained massive losses, being ultimately forced to retreat from their positions in small groups," Ukraine’s defense intelligence reported.
According to communications intercepts, the invaders are stunned by Ukraine’s powerful offensive, complaining about the lack of ammunition and equipment and poor logistics, which is forcing the invaders to retreat chaotically. While escaping the battlefield, the Russian military use even bicycles and scooters snatched from the local population, while many flee on foot.
At the same time, in the Dnipropetrovsk direction, the enemy is trying to hold gained ground, while contempt is growing among Russian soldiers over the new reinforcements as some fresh recruits are 55 to 60 years old.
In order to hold positions in Kherson region, rookie forces were brought in from Russia. However, according to the intelligence agency, the newly arrived soldiers categorically refuse to engage in offensive combat missions.
It was also established that Russia’s 237th guards airborne assault regiment “ceased to exist” as all of its servicemen were either killed or wounded in action. A significant part of survivors is in grave condition.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin-controlled media outlets are circulating reports claiming that Ukraine’s counteroffensive is no more than a “PR stunt.” According to the available intelligence, Russian propagandists are trying to convince their audience that all reports of the counteroffensive are part of a "show-off effort" targeting audiences in Europe and the rest of the civilized world, and that the weapons provided to Ukraine by its Western partners will be "sold to third parties."
As reported earlier, Ukraine’s Armed Forces, with close support on the part of the local population, advanced by an astonishing 50 kilometers in Kharkiv region in the matter of the past three days.
