Occupiers plan to put one of ZNPP power units into "hot shutdown" state

The occupants are going to put power unit No. 4 at Zaporizhzhia NPP into a "hot shutdown" state.

According to Ukrinform, Energoatom reported this on Telegram.

"The pseudo-head of the plant, Yuriy Chernichuk, has already issued a corresponding order. However, given the Russians' undermining of the Kakhovka HPP dam, the Kakhovka reservoir is drained, which means that when more power units are put into operation, there may not be enough water to cool the reactors," the statement said.

At the same time, the invaders deliberately do not comply with the decision of the Ukrainian regulator and do not bring power unit No. 5 to a "cold shutdown". This means that if two power units are operating in a "hot shutdown" state, there is a real threat of an emergency at the plant.

The Ukrainian operational personnel, who have been ensuring nuclear and radiation safety at Europe's largest nuclear facility for more than a year and a half, cannot influence this situation, as they are forced to constantly endure threats and intimidation from the armed Russian military.

"Realizing the consequences of such actions, last week some of the nuclear workers of Zaporizhzhia NPP left the plant, not wanting to participate in the plans of the Russians. By such actions, the invaders once again endanger the whole world," Energoatom added.

As reported, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia had technically prepared everything for a local explosion at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and could carry it out to stop the counteroffensive actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and to put political pressure on Kyiv through some partners.
