Russia wants to turn captured Arabat Spit into closed military base - expert
Deputy Director of the Center for Middle East Studies Serhii Danylov said this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"The occupiers have set a goal to push the civilian population out of all the villages of Arabat Spit as much as possible. They want to turn Arabat into one big closed military base," Danylov emphasized.
According to him, for this purpose, the Russian invaders began to put pressure even on formally loyal residents, who have their house documents torn or taken away, threatened, and expelled from their homes.
As Ukrinform reported, on June 9, in the village of Strilkove which is situated on the Arabat Spit in the Kherson region, Russians were killed in the building of the "Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation".
Earlier it became known that in the Kherson region, collaborators were passing off the buildings of the Ukrainian recreational project Eco-City as a newly built "government quarter" on the temporarily occupied Arabat Spit.
In the temporarily occupied Kherson region, the Russian military and collaborators gather at Arabat Spit, where they place "administrations" and conduct military exercises.
In the fall of 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated the right-bank part of the Kherson region, including the city of Kherson. Part of the region, located on the left bank of the Dnipro River, was temporarily seized by Russian troops.
