Russia uses almost half of Soviet armored vehicles from its largest warehouse - media
The Moscow Times reported this, according to Ukrinform.
"During the war in Ukraine, more than 40% of old Soviet tanks and armored personnel carriers were removed from storage at the largest known base of mothballed military equipment, Vagzhanovo in Buryatia. This follows from the latest Google Earth satellite images," the statement said.
As noted, the military base in Vagzhanovo is located near the city of Ulan-Ude and covers about 13 square kilometers, which is significantly larger than the area of two dozen other known military equipment storage bases in Russia.
Five months before the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine (in September 2021), about 3,840 armored vehicles were stored in the open air in Vagzhanovo. In November 2022, about 2600 armored vehicles remained at the base, and in May 2023, about 2270.
That is, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 1570 (40.8%) units of armored vehicles have been removed from the base, and the vast majority of them (32%) were removed after the announcement of mobilization in Russia at the end of 2022.
As reported, the Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated about 250,800 Russian invaders from February 24, 2022, to August 8, 2023, 560 of them in the last day.
Also, as of August 8, Ukrainian defenders destroyed 4254 (+10) enemy tanks, 8278 (+8) armored combat vehicles, 4996 (+19) artillery systems and other enemy equipment.
