Renovated dormitory for IDPs from Mariupol presented in Dnipro
The Mariupol City Council reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"Insulation, a playground and a shelter: the second stage of repairs in the dormitory for Mariupol residents has been completed. This is the first project in Ukraine to turn a university dormitory into modern social housing for Mariupol IDPs... During the inspection, housing certificates were handed over to 11 families who will also live in the dormitory," the statement reads.
It is noted that among those who received certificates are large families, families with people with disabilities, and military personnel.
According to the mayor of Ukrainian Mariupol, Vadym Boychenko, the renovation of this dormitory launched the pilot project 'YaMariupol. Housing' pilot project, and this approach is the fastest way to provide families with social housing.
"Thanks to our partners, we can implement this project in stages and provide social housing to more Mariupol residents," Boychenko said.
The city council added that two more dormitories for 360 Mariupol families are currently being renovated in Dnipro.
As reported, on April 27, 2023, the first dormitory in Ukraine for IDPs from Mariupol was opened in Dnipro. The first families of internally displaced persons from Mariupol received the keys to social housing in the renovated and equipped dormitory of the Dnipro State Agrarian and Economic University. It can accommodate 35 families at a time. The housing is provided free of charge.
