Avdiivka may turn into complete ruing in up to three weeks - administration chief
That’s according to Vitaliy Barabash, head of the city's military administration, who spoke with Ukrainian Radio, Ukrinform reports.
"This aggravation, which we’ve been seeing since October 10, added even more destruction. Dozens of apartment blocks were destroyed during this period. Some of them were hit by two rockets, some were wiped out by SAMs. That is, the city is really crumbling not by days, but by hours. And looking at this destruction, you understand that at this rate of shelling, Avdiivka will turn into Marinka (another town in Donetsk region wiped out by the Russian invaders - ed.) in two to three weeks," the official stressed.
According to his data, 1,599 civilians remain in town to date. For the most part, people survive at the expense of humanitarian aid. At the same time, Barabash recalled that since the start of the latest escalation, all humanitarian deliveries have been brought to a halt while some stocks are still available.
At the same time, there are products that need to be brought in more often, noted the head of the administration, adding that the day before, for the first time in two weeks, it was possible to deliver bread to Avdiivka. "It's very dangerous, but bread has been delivered to town," he emphasized.
Also, according to Barabash, the evacuation does not stop. "Yesterday (October 24) we stopped it because there was massive shelling targeting the road. I hope that today (October 25) we will evacuate those scheduled for such evacuation. But we will look at the security component," Barabash added, stressing that "it is definitely necessary to leave town no matter what, because life is the most important thing."
As reported by Ukrinform, referring to Ukraine’s Defense Forces, the Russian invaders do not stop trying to besiege Avdiivka despite suffering huge losses.
