General Staff reports 59 combat clashes on front lines in past day
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its evening update on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
“Throughout the day, 59 combat engagements took place. Russian invaders carried out four missile attacks and 69 airstrikes, as well as 50 MLRS attacks on the positions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged,” the report says.
In the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna sectors, the enemy keeps military presence in the border area, conducting active subversive activities in order to prevent the transfer of Ukrainian troops to threatening directions, and increases the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border of Ukraine.
In the past day, the Russians launched airstrikes on the areas of Hrafske, Vovchansk, Mykolaivka of the Kharkiv region. About 25 settlements were hit by enemy artillery and mortar attacks, among them were Kliusy of the Chernihiv region; Marchykhyna Buda, Fotovyzh, Atynske, Pavlivka, Kostiantynivka, Sadky of the Sumy region; Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Budarky, Kolodiazne of the Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks near Sinkivka, Kharkiv region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense. The enemy launched airstrikes near the towns of Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, and Pishchane of the Kharkiv region. More than 15 settlements, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Berestove of the Kharkiv region, came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks near Terniv and Yampolivka of the Donetsk region and six more near Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense. The enemy launched airstrikes on the area of Serebrianka Forestry in the Luhansk region and near the settlements of Yampolivka and Hryhorivka of the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks, among them were Karmazynivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka of Luhansk region and Torske, Dibrova, Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka of the Donetsk region.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks near Terniv and Yampolivka of the Donetsk region and six more near Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region, where the enemy tried to break through the defense. The enemy conducted airstrikes on the area of Serebrianka Forestry in the Luhansk region and near the settlements of Yampolivka and Hryhorivka in the Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar attacks, including Karmazynivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Torske, Dibrova, Serebrianka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Bakhmut sector, the Defense Forces repelled five attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske and Klishchiivka in the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical situation. The enemy launched airstrikes near the settlements of Minkivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, Toretsk, and New York in the Donetsk region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and New York in the Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka and nine more attacks south of Sieverne, Pervomaiske and Nevelske in the Donetsk region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense. The enemy conducted airstrikes near the towns of Lastochkyne and Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region.
In the Marinka sector, the Defense Forces continue holding back the enemy in the areas of Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where the occupiers unsuccessfully tried to improve theirs tactical position three times. The enemy launched airstrikes near the settlements of Staromaiorske and Rivnopil in the Donetsk region. Maksymilianivka, Heorhiivka, Pobieda, and Novomykhailivka came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Shakhtarske sector, the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. Airstrikes were recorded near the settlements of Novomykhailivka and Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. Bohoiavlenka, Staromaiorske, and Zelene Pole came under artillery and mortar fire.
In the Zaporizhzhia sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain their lost position. More than 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire, including Levadne, Huliaipole, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Lobkove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia sectors remained unchanged.
In the area of the Tavria operational and strategic grouping of troops in the Kherson sector, the enemy shelled the regional center of Kherson region and the areas of Beryslav and Novotiahynka in the Kherson region.
The General Staff emphasizes that the Russians have not abandoned attempts to dislodge Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, the enemy made six unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops.
Throughout the day, the Air Force struck nine enemy manpower, weapons and military equipment clusters. Ukrainian missile troops hit one Russian command post, three artillery units and one air defense system.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated nearly 376,030 Russian invaders from February 24, 2022, to January 21, 2024, including 760 troops in the last day.
