Russians launch Shaheds from sea area to make them less visible to mobile air defense groups - spox
The head of the joint press center at Operational Command South, Natalia Humeniuk spoke about this on the air of the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.
"This tactic isn’t new, they applied it from the very beginning when they tried to muffle Shahed’s characteristic sound that is heard from afar. And it's no secret that many mobile air defense groups often focus on sound in the first place before using other tools. And thus we see that the enemy is trying to trick our air defense network as much as possible, exploring various options. Even flying very low over the water surface, they try to hide such drones from our detection systems. After that, the drones emerge very sharply over the coast and then head directly to residential areas," Humeniuk said.
She noted that Odesa's port infrastructure remains in the enemy's focus so our Defense Forces are trying to shoot down the Shaheds over the sea.
In addition, the enemy is actively employing tactical aviation for strikes on Ukraine’s territory.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on Thursday, Ukraine downed an incoming Russian Kh-59 guided missile.
