Netherlands to allocate EUR 54M for drone production, including for Ukraine
That’s according to Bloomberg, Ukrinform reports.
State Secretary of Defense Christophe van der Maat has noted that the money will be used to both finance production sites and further support research into drones.
“We want to place orders to build drones to help Ukraine and place orders to help building up our own army. With those orders we want to create an ecosystem for drones in our country,” he stated.
According to NOS, the procurement policy in the Netherlands will be more focused on accelerating the production.
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren emphasized that it is about accelerating the production of military equipment for Ukraine and for its own needs. To this end, the Netherlands is seeking cooperation with other European partners.
As reported by Ukrinform, the UK and Latvia have opened a tender for companies to supply FPV drones to Ukraine as part of the Drone Capability Coalition. The tender is open to manufacturers from any country that is a member of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
This competition aims to find suppliers who can "produce these drones at scale and at an affordable price point, leveraging the strength of Western industry."
