Zelensky, Lithuanian President, and Estonian Prime Minister discuss Ukraine's path to EU

In Brussels, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas to discuss Ukraine's path to EU membership, the Peace Summit and further defense support.

The President's website reports this, according to Ukrinform.

During the meetings, the leaders emphasized the importance of the EU's decision to open negotiations with Ukraine on its accession to the European Union.

The parties discussed the situation on the battlefield and the defense needs of Ukraine, in particular the implementation of the Czech initiative to purchase shells for Ukrainian warriors. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine needs at least seven additional systems to bolster air defense and increase long-range capabilities.

The President of Ukraine thanked the leaders for their personal participation in the inaugural Peace Summit. The parties agreed to continue working on involving the countries of the Global South in implementing the Peace Formula and encouraging participants to join the Joint Communiqué on a Peace Framework.

Special attention was paid to the NATO Summit that will be held on July 9-11 in Washington. The interlocutors agreed that strong decisions regarding defense support for Ukraine must be made at the summit. It is important that principled statements are made and decisions regarding Ukraine's future membership in the Alliance are adopted at the summit.

As reported, to date, Ukraine has signed 17 security agreements, including with all the member states of the Group of Seven.

On June 27, Ukraine signed three more agreements with the European Union, Lithuania, and Estonia.
