Russia decreases offensive actions in Pokrovske direction - AFU
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Nazar Voloshyn, spokesman for the Khortytsia separate military unit, on the air of the United News nationwide telethon.
"This direction [Pokrovske] remains the same as it was - the hottest, but the enemy has somewhat reduced its offensive emphasis and potential, because the Defence Forces are suspending it, giving an adequate response to the enemy, so over the past day our defenders repelled 27 enemy attacks there. The previous day there were 26 enemy attacks," Voloshyn said.
According to him, these were assaults in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Novoselivka Persha, Novooleksandrivka, Progress, Umanske and Yasnobrodivka. The enemy is also trying to push Ukrainian units out of their positions with the support of aviation.
"The defence forces are responding adequately and resisting the enemy. The enemy is suffering considerable losses there, and over 200 occupants were killed in this area over the past day. Several armoured vehicles, artillery systems, eight vehicles were also destroyed and a lot of equipment was damaged: guns, tanks and vehicles," added the Khortytsia spokesman.
He noted that in the previous weeks there were almost 50 attacks per day in the Pokrovske sector, but now the number of enemy attacks has somewhat decreased.
"There are no relative advances as such, the enemy is also conducting attacks in the Toretsk sector with its firepower and active assault operations, and in particular yesterday, the enemy was active there. With the support of aviation, 20 attacks were carried out, the previous day it was slightly more - 29," said Voloshyn.
He stressed that the enemy tried to storm the positions of our defenders in the areas of Pivnichne, Toretsk and New York. The enemy also conducted assaults under cover of aircraft dropping enemy guided bombs.
"Most of the assaults are carried out from unit to company. He does not place much emphasis on the use of armoured vehicles, but supports the actions with armoured vehicles, and in that direction the enemy dropped 10 aerial bombs on populated cities and districts of Pivnichne and Toretsk over the past day. Over 230 attacks from various types of weapons were registered over the past day," Voloshyn said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Ukrainian Defence Forces withdrew from the village of Urozhayne, Donetsk region, to save the lives of the military.
