As a result of the attack on the Olenya airfield in Russia’s Murmansk region, a Tu-22M3 strategic bomber has indeed sustained damage.

That’s according to Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for Ukraine’s GUR defense intelligence, who spoke on the air of the national telethon, thus confirming media reports on the issue, an Ukrinform correspondent learned.

"These are truly Olympic achievements by our Main Intelligence Directorate. We don’t comment on what happened and where, but our Supreme Commander praised our long-range efforts, so it is clear and not difficult to guess the direction here. As for the reports of damage, yes, we do confirm the damage. Something hit the target somewhere. And yes, we can confirm the fact that a strategic bomber was hit and damaged," he said.
