Zelensky: Ukraine proposes energy truce to Russia
President Volodymyr Zelensky made this statement in an evening video address, according to Ukrinform.
“Right now, of course, the oil market and global markets in general are in a state of crisis due to the unresolved situation surrounding Iran. Oil-producing countries—and Russia is among them—can now earn more. And our drones and our missiles are limiting Russia in this regard—thank you to our soldiers for their accuracy. Today, in particular, we discussed diplomatic strikes with the Commander-in-Chief and the Chief of the General Staff,” he noted.
Zelensky also thanked those partners who continue to apply pressure through their own measures—including sanctions, the detention of tankers, and restrictions on the supply of modern equipment to Russia.
“Everything the Russians can earn from shock oil prices, they will spend on the war. This priority of theirs has not changed yet. Therefore, every restriction we impose on their ability to export oil is the right move. If Russia is ready to stop attacks on our energy sector, we will be ready to respond in kind,” Zelensky said.
According to him, the Russian side has received a corresponding proposal—via the Americans.
As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine proposed an Easter truce to Russia, but the Kremlin ignored this proposal and continued its massive shelling of Ukrainian cities.
