The SBU Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian intelligence asset who is believed to have been spying on the defense forces in the Pokrovsk axis.

The arrest came as the enemy accomplice was attempting to flee, Ukrinform reports, referring to the SBU press office.

"After fulfilling her missions close to the front line, the informant arrived in Kirovohrad region, from where she intended to eventually cross out of Ukraine and into the European Union, as a displaced person, before moving to Russia. SBU counter-intelligence operatives foiled the Russian asset’s plans and detained her in a rented apartment as she was preparing to leave for Russia," the statement reads.

According to the inquiry, the suspect was a 38-year-old resident of Selydove in Donetsk region. The woman was part of the FSB human asset network, which was exposed in October 2023 during a special raid across the region.

At that time, SBU operatives detained two enemy accomplices who had been monitoring the Ukrainian Army supply routes for heavy armored equipment in the Avdiivka area.

For operation security considerations, the three spies acted separately, while sharing the same handler from the FSB.

The main targets of the enemy espionage efforts were fortified areas and artillery positions of the Ukrainian troops, which restrained the advance of the invading units toward Pokrovsk.

A Russian passport, issued at the asset’s name, was seized during the raid of her apartment.
