Ukrainian paratroopers participate in multinational exercise Saber Junction 20

"The multinational exercise Saber Junction 20 has started in the Federal Republic of Germany. Seventeen countries are involved in the exercise that will be held at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels. Ukraine will be represented by a unit of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces, stationed in the Lviv region," the report reads.

The entire composition of the Ukrainian unit has considerable experience gained in hostilities with Russian occupation forces in eastern Ukraine. Some servicemen participated in international peacekeeping and security operations, as well as in multinational exercises.

According to the ministry, the Ukrainian unit, as well as the units of other participating countries, spent 14 days in self-isolation at the military base. For the safety of participants in the multinational exercise, servicemen were tested several times for COVID-19, and the results were negative.

During the field phase of the multinational exercise Saber Junction 20, the Ukrainian unit will operate as part of the 503rd Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade, the ministry's press service said.

Saber Junction is a series of multinational exercises conducted by the U.S. Army's Europe-based 7th Army Training Command.
